My poor house...

It has been a little messy lately, because I have caught the sewing bug... again...

I am so in love with this skirt, and really, the picture doesn't do it justice! It is soooo cute in person!! The pocket was supposed to have a button on it, but I was too lazy to find my button hole foot for the sewing machine. I think it looks cute just the way it is;) But Abby still wants a button on it... Why do I tell her things?

Up close, because the pictures were taken at night under my horrible yellow cast lights next to my yellow wall... so up close shows the true colors!

So I saw this apron made up in Panguitch and bought some fabric hoping to find the same pattern (because they had sold out of it) I finally found it! It was called "ruffle apron" so I thought to myself, 'oh, ruffles? that will be so easy!' but it wasn't meant to be... it turned out to be pleats... I loathe pleats! but sixty of them later and I was done ( don't worry, I counted!! ) And- I didn't even use them all!! It has you cut a big chunk off at the end. grrr... Maybe I can make something up for my soon-to-be-niece with the ruffle/pleats on the bottom, we will see!

So here it is, the first time I have cussed at my project in a long time. It looked so easy, but proved so hard! Oh well! now that I have done it once the next time will be a breeze!!

Again, up close to see the right colors;)

What a little effort can do...

This:

Plus this:

Equals this:

Jack has been waking up at least twice a night (STILL) pretty much forever... I think we had a few months where he slept through the night (in his ENTIRE life) and now we are back to twice a night. That is even when he doesn't get a nap!! Yesterday he was up at six, yeah, fun. So... when I found him passed out on the floor ten minutes in to Sesame Street I got to work!
I decided it was silly for me to buy Abby school clothes when I could just make them, plus I love to sew, and (for now, at least) she loves to wear them. So I made her a peasant blouse! I was nearly finished by the time he woke up, but then he just sat on the floor looking a little confused for the next 20 minutes, so I took advantage of that and got it done! Let's hope he takes an nap again today... ;D

Beaver Mountain

Another Laidlaw tradition... going to Beaver Mountain on or around Pioneer Day. In the past it has been sooo miserable with the kids! Get how crazy I was, I took Abby up when she was 2 weeks old! Lots of crying!! That has been the story the last few years, first Abby would cry all night, then when she grew out of it, Jack was born and he took over! We skipped last year, but the year before that they were both crying miserable! So you can imagine I wasn't thrilled with the thought of going again this year. Well, I am so glad we did, they were both angels! ... well, for the most part...

This was our view from camp. Beautiful!
This little cutie cost us $1oo this trip! Ben was putting around the road that circled our camp trying to get Jack to sleep and the ranger saw him and wrote us a nice little... er, big... ticket! Don't worry, Kason got one for Griffin too, we wouldn't want anyone to feel left out, haha.

Oh my, this is why I hate camping... so dirty! I just have to close my eyes and deal with it. They got a bath every night and by mid afternoon they looked like this again. Why even bother;) This one was especially fun because he was dirty and then stole someone's pop and spilled it all over himself, which made him sticky and muddy. yeah, good times.

Oh, I love this picture. I wish I had backed up a few steps then it would have made their silhouettes darker. oh well! still a cute picture.

Happy Birthday Abby

Abby turned 5 on July 4th!! hooray!! She was super excited and counted down the days... er.. weeks. She decorated her own cake, dinosaur themed.

She REALLY didn't want Jack to blow out her candles before she could.

He went a little crazy with the dino stamps, this was an early picture. He was COVERED!!

She got a stroller, car seat and a new outfit for her favorite dolly, baby Sarah. and a skirt that matches for her. Thanks Grandma and Papa!
An easy bake oven and an outfit from Grandpa and Grandma, thanks!
And we got her a bunch of random stuff. A watch because she is learning to tell time, a necklace, a cinderella cd and some really nice dinosaurs. If you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she will tell you a paleontologist.

Pin the horn on the triceritops, and yes, everyone participated. Thaks for being good sports, everyone! you made her day.

We got her a pinata and she was so excited... at first... then she realized we would be breaking it into a million pieces, then it was a different story. So we convinced her it was a good thing, or so we thought (see later picture)

He even got a few hits in!

And then comes our former baseball player, and he smashes it...

And she runs inside screaming... Good times. She got over it when she saw all the candy.

Happy 3rd of July

So we did our traditional thing for the 4th this year. Gunlock and fireworks at Great Grandma and Grandpa Laidlaws house. Best view in town. And this year they added a breakfast, which was pretty awesome, because any excuse for "special syrup" is great in my book!!

Abs rode the knee board for like 15-20 minutes. ALL BY HERSELF!!! They told Ben to get ready to swim out for her as we left the beach because they didn't think she could do it, but she was awesome!! The only reason she quit was she got splashed in the face (go figure, getting wet at the lake) and she had a pouty face so Jim stopped the boat and she fell in. She got on the boat and said she was mad at him for splashing her, as if he had done it on purpose. Oh, Abby.
This was Jack's first time on the tube, and he loved it!! I thought he was terrified, because it looked like he was screaming the entire time. Turns out he was screaming, "hooray, wahoo!"

Just off the tube, pure happiness

Yeah, I dont know how to flip this picture... But it is Abby's birthday on the 4th and Cecilia's on the 5th so we sing to the birthday girls every year.

Panguitch

Last week we drove up to Panguitch to escape the heat... dont worry, it was kinda hot up there too... well, we still had fun. We,
Rode Bryce Canyon on bikes... Not me of course, but others did... a little, turns out it is pretty hilly and the altitude was rough.
Jumped some motorcycles. Again, not me, but still pretty cool!
And, of course I had to tag along and make them do stuff so I could take pictures.

Met some famous people... We saw John Wayne, an Indian and Bob Marley... ( cutout, a statue and a van...in that order, haha) Oh how I love Panguitch! I love to walk down their Main Street and hit up the shops. They have a cute Antique place, an awesome thrift shop and a variety store that we have to go to every time! Although, the thrift shop was closed and Alli, Rachel and I were a little upset...
And finally, the reason we really went up... Since we drove up that morning we saw the balloons up in the air as we drove in around 8 but they were starting to land, so I didn't get any pictures of that. But it was really cool, there were so many up at the same time! At night they line Main Street with the balloons and light them up! sooo much fun! And quite an adventure... lets just say two of us got yelled at for touching a balloon while another someone was trying to take a picture... Too bad the pic didn't turn out, it was getting dark and I couldnt hold it still enough while the lady was frantically screaming "please, please dont!! you will get burned! you will get burned, please!" hahahahaha. And well, the rest of the pictures are on my FB page if any of ya want to see them! I took 348 that day, wahoo!

Five years ago...

This very day I was sitting in the hospital, eating cold pizza (from the Laidlaw's annual 4th of July party) and holding my new baby girl while we watched the fireworks from the window. Words cant express how much I love her. She has changed my life in the best way possible. Yes, lately I want to pull my hair out nearly every day because of her, but I wouldn't have it any other way!!

And, I am behind on posting... mostly because photoshop is sooo much fun... so for now, this is all!
